Israel denied 3 points by a last minute Latvia equaliser

Israel was held to a 1:1 draw against Latvia in Riga in a World Cup Group 2 qualifier, when Vladimirs Kolesnicenko’s scored in the 89th minute.

Israel (8 points), second in the group behind Greece (9), took the lead in the 50th minute through Yossi Benayoun who also scored in Luxembourg (3:1).

But just when the israeli players got closer to topping the group,
Kolesnicenko equalised from a close range.

Israel will now host Greece on March 28th, and will travel to Greece 4 days later.
