Israel was drawn in group 2 of the 2010 World Cup Qualifying stage

Israel was drawn in group 2 of the qualifying stage for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, alongside Greece, Switzerland, Latvia, Moldova and Luxembourg.

In a beautifull ceremony which took place in Durban, 170 teams discovered their rivals to the South Africa World cup.

Israel was represented by the president of the IFA, Avi Luzon, the national team coach, Dror Kashtan and the CEO, Ori Shilo.

FIFA General Secretary, Jerome Valcke conducted proceedings as former players, association presidents, celebrities from across the globe and the world's football press looked on in earnest to see which teams Draw Assistants George Weah, Ali Daei, Marcel Desailly, Kasey Keller, Kaizer Motaung, Abedi Pele, Doreen Nabwire, Jomo Sono, Lucas Radebe and Christian Karembeu

The teams in group 2 met in Israel at the beginning of January, but after 7 hours of negotiations, didn't reach an agreement on the fixture list.
