Israel was drawn in group 2 of the qualifying stage for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, alongside Greece, Switzerland, Latvia, Moldova and Luxembourg.
In a beautifull ceremony which took place in Durban, 170 teams discovered their rivals to the South Africa World cup.
Israel was represented by the president of the IFA, Avi Luzon, the national team coach, Dror Kashtan and the CEO, Ori Shilo.

The teams in group 2 met in Israel at the beginning of January, but after 7 hours of negotiations, didn't reach an agreement on the fixture list.
