Israel beats Luxembourg 3:1 in world cup qualifier

A second win for Israel in group 2 of the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Israel needed only 1 minute to break Luxembourg's defense when Yossi Benayoun scored from the penalty  spot.

Luxembourg equalized after only 13 minutes when Rene Peters scored with a free kick, and set the half time score.

Israel started pressing and a great assist from Biram Kayal found Omer Golan who scored from a close range, 2:1 Israel (63).

8 minutes before the final whistle, Salim Toama scored Israel's third goal in the match.

After 3 matches Israel is in the second place in group 2 with 7 points. Grecce leads the group with 9 points.

Israel meets Latvia in Riga on wednesday (18.00) in the fourth match of the campaign.

Israel's coach, Dror Kashtan, said after the match: "We did not play well in the first half, but in the second half we played better in midfield and that  allowed us to create goal opportunities".
